How Can I Know I’m Going to Heaven?

RECOGNIZE YOUR CONDITION

People tend to look at themselves in the way that they would like to be seen, and that is with some inherent goodness. But God says that every person that has ever lived is a sinner, and ANY SIN, EVEN A SINGLE SIN separates us from Him. That includes you and me. Here is what God tells you through His Word:

“The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked, and who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9
“For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

UNDERSTAND

Given this condition, maybe you feel discouraged or unloved by God. But He has great news for you! Jesus LOVES YOU more than you can ever imagine! And there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO CHANGE THAT OR MAKE HIM STOP! His love for you is unconditional and above measure:

“For God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

God demands purity in heaven. So in order for you to come to God and inhabit heaven, you cannot bring your sin with you. It must be removed. God says that you cannot do this on your own by being a good person, or by doing good things. Therefore, you must trust Him to do whatever is necessary to cleanse you from all your sin. You see, God’s desire is that you will spend eternity with Him in heaven. And He has gone through great lengths to make heaven possible for you. WHY? JUST BECAUSE HE LOVES YOU!

“God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9
“It is not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His MERCY He saved us.” Titus 3:5

It’s God’s grace that allows you to come to Him – not your own efforts to “clean up your life” or work your way to Heaven. You cannot earn it because it is a free gift.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

What must I do? You must first ask God to forgive you of your sin. And trust that He is standing ready and waiting to forgive you.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

God’s gift to you is forgiveness through His Son, Jesus, who paid the debt that you deserve.

“For the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23

THE GOOD NEWS
Jesus paid the debt for your sin by giving His life on Calvary’s cross. He took what you deserve and laid it upon Himself as a demonstration of His immeasurable love for you. But it didn’t end at Jesus’ death and burial. He miraculously rose from the dead, just like He said He would, opening up the gates of heaven for all that believe.

BELIEVE
Believe that what God Himself says is absolute truth, for He cannot lie. All that’s left for you to do is to believe and accept the truth that Jesus is extending to you RIGHT NOW; and that truth is the forgiveness of your sin and gift of eternal life in heaven with Him.   Jesus declared “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For it is with your heart man believes unto righteousness, and with your mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.” Acts 16:31

OPEN YOUR HEART TO JESUS
Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart and He wants to save you for all eternity. Will you say yes?

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1-2

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20

RECEIVE
Are you ready to accept the free gift of eternal life that Jesus is offering to you? If so, then simply receive Him into your heart right now by faith and pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I am sorry for my sins. I know that I do not deserve eternal life with you in heaven because of my sin. But I believe with all my heart that You came and died for me, so that my sin and the debt of it would be removed. I also believe that You rose from the dead and have gone to prepare a place for me in Heaven with you. Jesus, I ask you to forgive me of my sins and to save me so that I will one day be in heaven with You.   I invite you to come into my heart right now and be the Lord and Master of my life. I place my trust in You alone for my salvation and I freely receive your gift of eternal life. Thank you for saving me, Jesus. I pray this in Your Holy and Wonderful Name. AMEN.

If you have prayed this prayer in faith with a sincere heart, then trust God that He has heard your prayer and has answered it. You are now saved and can look forward to the hope and promise of heaven that Jesus has given to you. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF GOD ! !
